Does Your Marketing Strategy Connect to Sales Results?

Most companies aren’t short on marketing activity.

They have a website. They send emails. They post on social. They may be running ads, publishing content, building decks, updating collateral and tracking performance across more platforms than anyone really wants to log into.

Still, leadership eventually asks the question that matters most: Is this helping our business?

Marketing may be reporting website traffic, email engagement and campaign performance. Sales may be tracking calls, quotes, proposals and closed deals. Leadership may be focused on revenue, margin, retention or market share.

Each of those numbers can be useful. But when they’re not aligned, they can create more confusion than confidence.

Companies that get more from their marketing tend to be more disciplined about what they’re trying to influence, who they’re trying to reach and how marketing and sales are expected to work together.

Buyers Are Doing More Before They Talk to Sales

Today’s buyers rarely start from zero.

Before they contact your team, they’ve likely visited your website, reviewed your social presence, compared competitors, asked peers and used AI-powered search tools to narrow their thinking. By the time they raise their hand, they likely have a strong impression of who you are, what you know and whether you’re worth their time.

Every touchpoint now carries more weight.

A website, LinkedIn post or email may feel like a single piece of communication. To the buyer, each one adds to the larger picture. Together, they either build confidence or introduce doubt.

When the message on your website doesn’t match the sales conversation, trust weakens. Marketing may create interest but if sales follow-ups lack context, momentum slows. Your marketing efforts begin to look like a cost instead of a growth driver.

The Business Goal Has to Lead

A strong marketing strategy doesn’t start with a list of deliverables; it starts with a business goal.

A company trying to increase qualified leads needs a different marketing plan than one trying to enter a new market. Improving close rates requires a different approach than building awareness. Supporting a sales team isn’t the same as driving event attendance or strengthening position against a competitor.

Many companies lose focus here. They prioritize marketing tactics and ask for more posts, more emails, more ads or more content before defining what those efforts need to accomplish.

More activity can create the feeling of progress, but motion and momentum are not the same thing.

Before investing in more marketing, companies need to understand what they’re trying to move. Awareness. Consideration. Confidence. Conversion. Retention. Each one requires different messaging, timing and measures of success.

Your marketing strategy gives the team a clear job to do and becomes more effective when it’s tied to the larger business picture. Are you ready to start moving forward? Reach out to our team.

Ashley Bowen Cook Named Wichita Aero Club Executive Director

The Wichita Aero Club enters its next chapter as Ashley Bowen Cook takes over as Executive Director of one of the industry’s premier organizations. Cook, Alpha Charlie Marketing’s Principal & CEO, has been involved with Wichita Aero Club for years and is a longtime advocate for the region’s aviation community.

Her appointment follows the resignation of Nicole Alexander, who has led the Wichita Aero Club since 2022. Taking over after the retirement of longtime president Dave Franson, Alexander helped maintain the club’s momentum while continuing its mission of connecting aviation professionals and celebrating the industry’s achievements. She recently stepped down to focus on her professional coaching business, leaving behind a strong foundation and a legacy of dedicated service.

For Cook, the new position represents a continuation of her longstanding commitment to the Wichita Aero Club. She made history as the organization’s first female board chair, serving a three-year term from January 2022 to January 2025. Cook has led the club’s trophy selection committee since 2012.

As part of the transition, Alpha Charlie Marketing will assume many of the organizational responsibilities that were previously shared among several individuals. The new structure is designed to improve operational efficiency while allowing the club to continue delivering the high-quality programming members have come to expect. Tessa Brungardt will continue serving as event coordinator, ensuring continuity for the club’s signature luncheons and special events.

Controlling the UAS Narrative: Public Relations and Community Engagement

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Is it an alien invasion?

Pioneering the unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) sector demands more than securing FAA waivers and executing complex test flights. You have to win over the public. When an advanced drone flies beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) nearby the people on the ground demand answers. If you don’t answer their questions proactively, skepticism takes root and your operations will remain grounded.

Winning local trust requires a targeted UAS public relations flight plan. Here is how your brand can cut through the noise, empower local champions and build a supportive community for your UAS operations.

Prioritize Face-to-Face Grassroots Education

You cannot educate a community with a generic press release. Building trust requires consistent, face-to-face interaction.

When our partners at the Northern Plains UAS Test Site launched Vantis they understood the community needed to feel involved. They hosted frequent town halls and community forums. These were not one-off novelties. They were ongoing UAS community education sessions designed to bring the public into the fold. By opening the floor to direct Q&A sessions with residents they removed the mystery from their operations.

Transparency is your strongest asset. You’re not trying to hide what you are doing; you’re showing the public exactly how these systems operate and highlighting the tangible access and benefits they bring to the region.

Empower Local Media Contacts

Local media outlets are the gatekeepers to your community. Securing coverage in national UAS media outlets builds industry clout, but those outlets do not influence the local city council or the concerned neighborhood watch.

Strong UAS media relations start with getting local and state reporters on board early. Identify the small-town journalists who shape the narrative in your operational zones and treat them as partners. Provide them with direct access to your leadership to help spread the word about your education sessions and keep the community informed. When rumors surface those established relationships ensure the local media turns to you for the facts instead of publishing the panic.

Inspire the Next Generation (And Their Parents)

One of the most effective ways to break down barriers and eliminate public fear is to bring your technology into the classroom.

Education through local school systems shifts the narrative from disruptive drones to future STEM careers. NPUASTS takes this mission seriously by participating in ongoing community and federal programs including the FAA’s BEYOND initiative, UND career fairs and targeted STEM outreach. These programs position drone technology as a legitimate career path and give students direct exposure to the sector before skepticism takes hold.

When kids get excited about the future of aviation their parents listen. This grassroots approach transforms skeptical taxpayers into enthusiastic advocates. You stop defending your operations against fear and start promoting your operations as an essential community asset.

Clear Your Narrative for Takeoff

The brands that dominate the UAS airspace will be the ones that master controlling the narrative. You cannot afford to let speculation dictate your future.

By investing in frequent community roundtables, prioritizing UAS public relations and community engagement and bringing your technology into schools you build the trust required to scale your enterprise.

At Alpha Charlie we understand the specific challenges facing the unmanned sector. We know how to navigate the noise, engage local leadership and position your operations for long-term success. Ready to chart your course? Contact our crew today and let’s build your market.
